Ride towards the valley on the little known trails that the colonists and baqueanos used in Patagonia’s early days. You’ll look up at imposing rock walls and a spectacular view of the Las Torres Mountains, while feeling truly connected to the horse and the environment around you. Skirting the slopes of Mount Paine, we’ll make a stop to enjoy the landscape, where you’ll note a unique microclimate and distinct vegetation. After the valley, you’ll have glorious views of Mount Almirante Nieto and feel the serenity of Lake Nordenskjöld. If you’re lucky, you’ll see traces of puma as you pass by the “Puma Cave” on the way back to the stables. Guided by our baqueanos, riders of all levels will love getting a glimpse into the culture and heart of Patagonia.

All our excursions are exclusive to guests of Hotel Las Torres, Refugios, and/or Camping at Las Torres Patagonia.

What is there to enjoy?

Ascencio Valley

This valley builds increasing excitement, as its magestic views lead to Las Torres Base Viewpoint. It features the Oggioni Mountains in the distance, a windy river below, a grassy slope on one side, a rocky incline on the other, and a trail that gets steeper and steeper until you enter a native forest of lenga and Antarctic beech trees.

Mount Almirante Nieto

Located right between the emblematic Las Torres and Los Cuernos Mountains, various hanging glaciers tumble from its summit and its beauty deserves its own attention. It has the special feature of facing multiple directions and having a unique look from each – if you see it from one angle, you likely won’t recognize it from the next!

Lake Nordenskjöld

Uniting Pudete with Paine Grande, this turquoise lake serves as the starting point for ecstatic trekkers. It sits under the Los Cuernos Mountains and has an average depth of 200m / 650ft and covers an area of 28 km² / 11mi². It is named after Otto Nordenskjöld (1869-1928), a Swedish-Finnish explorer who dedicated himself to the study of Antarctica, Greenland, Chile, and Peru.
