Torres del Paine, 19 June 2026 — Las Torres Patagonia was recognised at the 2026 ICRT LATA Responsible Tourism Awards in the Regenerative Tourism category. The award was presented in London during the LATA Expo gala, the annual event that brings together the Latin American travel industry in the United Kingdom. This year, Las Torres Patagonia was the only Chilean organisation to receive a distinction, highlighting the work it is leading from Torres del Paine towards a form of tourism that creates a positive impact on the territory and its conservation.
Las Torres Patagonia was named One to Watch in the category, a recognition given to initiatives with strong potential for development within responsible tourism in Latin America. The judging panel highlighted the reserve’s progress towards regenerative practices in Torres del Paine and noted that it was “impressed by the ambition” of the Chilean project.
A model in transition
The practices assessed by the judges include the restoration of areas affected by wildfires, the cultivation of organic produce in the reserve’s own gardens, and waste reduction through composting and recycling. These initiatives form part of the reserve’s operational programme.
“This recognition reflects long-term work to integrate conservation and tourism. We understand that this is a path of continuous improvement, which is why we continue to advance new actions and commitments, including our Sustainability Strategy and the development of a Climate Action Plan for Tourism, within the framework of the Glasgow Declaration,” said John Ojeda, Conservation, Sustainability and Safety Manager at Las Torres Patagonia.
Fourteen organisations recognised across the region
The ICRT LATA Responsible Tourism Awards are the Latin American component of the Global Responsible Tourism Awards. In 2026, they recognised fourteen organisations across six categories.
The recognition comes in a year in which Las Torres Patagonia is moving forward with a broader transformation plan. This includes infrastructure, gastronomy and conservation, in coordination with the work of Las Torres Patagonia Conservancy in Torres del Paine.
