Located in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park, Hotel Las Torres proudly hosted the opening ceremony for the world’s primier adventure travel summit.
Torres del Paine, October 14, 2025 – A major milestone for adventure tourism in Chile—and worldwide—began this week in the Magallanes Region. The Adventure Travel World Summit 2025 (ATWS), organized by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), is the industry’s premier international event. It is being held in Puerto Natales from October 13 to 16 and started with an inaugural ceremony this past Monday at Hotel Las Torres.
After a decade, Chile is once again hosting this globally significant event that draws nearly 800 participants from around the world, including tour operators, travel agencies, journalists, influencers, professionals and adventure tourism experts. The summit aims to exchange knowledge, develop shared strategies and promote adventure travel across different corners of the globe.
At the opening ceremony, Chile’s Economy, Development and Tourism Minister Álvaro García took part in the kickoff event at Hotel Las Torres, where he mingled with attendees and highlighted the summit’s significance for the industry. “I’ve spoken with many of the participants, and they are impressed by the opportunities Chile has to offer,” said the minister, noting that “this ATTA gathering presents us with a tremendous opportunity.”
Shannon Stowell, CEO and founder of the Adventure Travel Trade Association, also participated in the kickoff, commenting that “Chile represents the very best in adventure travel.” He added, “The international community is having an absolute blast. They’re loving everything here—it’s the perfect blend of nature, culture and activities.”
Tourism Undersecretary Verónica Pardo also attended the event, noting its international scope: “Nearly 800 delegates from around the world have arrived in Chile—from Fiji, Australia, Japan—to participate in this extraordinary experience.”
Representing local authorities, Presidential Delegate for the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region José Ruiz joined the official delegation and celebrated the occasion:
“As a region, we are proud to host this major event—a global summit for adventure tourism. It reaffirms our international standing as a premier travel destination.”
Event host and Las Torres Patagonia CEO Josian Yaksic welcomed industry leaders to the heart of Torres del Paine National Park. “We are honored to host the Adventure Travel World Summit 2025 Opening Ceremony. It allows us to continue sharing our company’s vision, in which adventure tourism and sustainability go hand in hand,” said Yaksic.
“We hope this event inspires more people to explore Chile and discover all that our land has to offer,” he added.
The opening ceremony at Hotel Las Torres also showcased its strong commitment to sustainability, a pursuit that recently earned it the title of South America’s Leading Green Hotel at the World Travel Awards.
The hotel also confirmed it will offset 100% of the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the summit. This includes participant ground transportation, air travel for performers, electricity use, fossil fuel consumption, and waste produced on-site.
For every ton of CO₂ equivalent emitted, the hotel will purchase a verified carbon credit, ensuring the reduction of an equal amount of emissions through nature-based solution projects. This carbon neutrality initiative is certified by Carboneutral®, in accordance with Chile’s NCh3300 carbon neutrality standard and aligned with the CarbonNeutral Protocol.
