Las Torres Patagonia Director Mauricio Kusanovic and the company’s Conservation, Sustainability and Safety Manager John Ojeda will attend the event.
Punta Arenas, December 5, 2024—Aiming to continue attracting tourists to the Magallanes Region, Green Destinations and the National Tourism Service (SERNATUR) Magallanes will host the Green Destinations 2024 Global Conference in the city of Punta Arenas, Chile. The event will bring together prominent speakers from different fields who will participate in dialogues to foster and promote more sustainable tourism in the region.
This year’s event represents a milestone, as it is the first time the summit has taken place outside Europe. According to SERNATUR National Director Cristóbal Benítez, “This is tremendously relevant, as Chile will be in the eyes of the world. In a few days, our country will be the gathering place for hundreds of international organizations working to promote sustainability at different destinations.”
On the first day, Mauricio Kusanovic, director of Las Torres Patagonia, a company located in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park, is scheduled to participate in the “Exploring Sustainable Tourism in Magallanes: Strategies for Empowerment” panel.
This panel will explore innovative approaches to sustainable tourism, focusing on local empowerment and environmental preservation. From transforming livestock farming into conservation in Torres del Paine to eco-plastic lodges in Chile, participants will discover practical solutions for sustainable practices.
On the second day, Las Torres Patagonia’s Conservation, Sustainability and Safety Manager, John Ojeda, will participate in the “Regenerating Southern Patagonia: Sustainable Transformation for the Region’s Future” panel.
This segment will highlight innovative approaches to sustainable development in southern Patagonia. Topics include the Torres del Paine Legacy Fund’s protected areas tourism model and the role of science outreach in conservation and sustainable tourism.
“Las Torres Patagonia has an ongoing commitment to the region,” said Ojeda, “We celebrate these types of events, which allow us to continue attracting new partners for our mission toward sustainable tourism.”
The Green Destinations 2024 Global Conference will take place in Punta Arenas on December 10-12th.
