Las Torres Patagonia designs new plan for the use of parking lots in Welcome Center

Torres del Paine, September 3, 2024 – In order to improve safety and access for all visitors to Torres del Paine National Park, Las Torres Patagonia has implemented new policies for the use of the parking lots located at the entrance to the Welcome Center.

The new policy will continue to allow all regular cars and tourist vans to access the parking lot without problems, however, starting with the 2024-2025 season, which begins on October 1 of this year, camper van type vehicles will be restricted from using this space.

In response to requests from the community and in order to optimize the use of the space for all visitors, the proposal will allow a greater number of regular passengers to use the facilities. This is due to the fact that camper-type vehicles take up more space than conventional cars and stay for one or more nights at the site.

In addition, from Las Torres Patagonia they stressed that the parking lot is exclusively for parking vehicles, and the use of any form of overnight stay in them violates the rules established for this sector, urging its visitors to duly inform themselves about the uses of authorized and/or enabled spaces before their arrival.

For those visitors who wish to arrive at the park with motor home or camper van vehicles, the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) has set up different places for these uses: Pehoé Campground, Serrano Campground, and Laguna Azul Campground, with services authorized for this type of visit. Likewise, the corporation emphasizes that “exceptionally, if the public restrooms are available, the Administration and Pingo parking lots may be used, which do not have any type of extra service,” although they warn that in these places “restrooms may not be unloaded.

Las Torres Patagonia recommends that visitors get the proper information before programming any type of program considering this type of vehicle and avoid any discomfort during their experience.
