CONAF Announces Temporary Closure of John Garner Pass Through December 25

From December 26 through December 31, access through this section will be permitted only with a certified guide.

Torres del Paine, December 23, 2025 – In order to safeguard the safety of hikers completing the O Circuit, and in light of the weather conditions forecast for the coming days, the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) has determined that John Garner Pass will remain closed through December 25 of this year.

Due to the persistence of these conditions, the agency has instructed that from December 26 through December 31, hikers may complete this section only when accompanied by a certified guide.

Las Torres Patagonia echoes the authorities’ advisory and asks all visitors to comply with current regulations and recommendations to ensure everyone’s safety.

For those with an active reservation during the dates mentioned above, Las Torres Patagonia has defined the following options:

  • Rebooking the reservation on the W Circuit, subject to availability.

  • Rescheduling the reservation for a future date, subject to availability.

  • Full refund.
