Las Torres Patagonia nominated a second consecutive year for the World Travel Awards 2024

The tourist complex was highlighted in the categories of South America’s Responsible Tourism Award and South America’s Leading Green Hotel.

Torres del Paine, February 19, 2024.- Las Torres Patagonia achieved a new milestone for Chilean tourism in the 2024 World Travel Awards (WTA), the prestigious accolades known as “the Oscars of tourism.” Once again, the tourist complex located at the heart of Torres del Paine National Park received two important nominations recognizing its efforts to offer a responsible and sustainable tourism alternative to the national and international community.

The WTA acknowledged Las Torres Patagonia’s work in sustainability by nominating it for South America’s Leading Green Hotel, as a result of the efforts regarding the reconstruction of the trail to Las Torres Base Viewpoint, the horses’ holistic grazing system, and the biointensive and regenerative garden, to name a few.

Furthermore, since the last time Las Torres Patagonia was nominated, new initiatives have been added that continue to advance its project of a reserve deep in Chilean Patagonia, in line with its commitment to caring for nature.

Some of these initiatives include the recycling of vegetable oils used in cooking (which are transformed into biodiesel thanks to an alliance with the company CirKular), and the delivery of food waste to a pig farm in Puerto Natales.

Likewise, Las Torres Patagonia was nominated for the second year in a row for South America’s Responsible Tourism Award, which – unlike other awards – is special in that organizations are not allowed to apply by themselves but instead must be selected by a group of experts in hospitality, tourism and sustainability.

“Being nominated once again for the World Travel Awards helps us shed light on the actions we carry out year after year for responsible tourism in Torres del Paine. The trails are the key to reaching all these wonders. Without them, there’s no Las Torres Base Viewpoint, there’s no Francés Valley. A large part of these spaces are managed by a public-private alliance, so collaborative work is essential to continue enjoying all these natural and tourist attractions, and thus take care of the ecosystem,” said Josian Yaksic, Las Torres Patagonia’s CEO. “This helps us continue positioning Chile, and specifically Torres del Paine, as a relevant destination in Latin America with first-class standards,” he added.
