The company’s Conservation, Sustainability, and Safety Manager, John Ojeda, engaged in various conversations with members of the academic world and non-governmental organizations from North America.
New York, September 28, 2025 – With the goal of sharing Las Torres Patagonia’s sustainable initiatives with various international organizations, the company’s Conservation, Sustainability, and Safety Manager, John Ojeda, participated in Climate Week NYC. This global event organized by The Climate Group brought together leaders from government, business, and civil society to advance climate solutions ahead of the upcoming COP30 in Brazil.
Ojeda, who is also Director of the Las Torres Patagonia Conservancy NGO, shared the company’s efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change through tourism.
At the event, Ojeda took part in different panel discussions to position Las Torres Patagonia as a benchmark for sustainable tourism and conservation. One of the most notable exchanges was with Zeero Group, a company dedicated to supporting various industries with emissions reports that make it possible to develop effective decarbonization strategies. Zeero Group presented their experiences with biofuel, providing background information and data that could be replicated in Chile, and more specifically in Patagonia.
Ojeda also presented attendees with the guidelines that Las Torres Patagonia is using to carry out its Climate Action Plan, along with various materials in different formats that showcase successful sustainable tourism at Torres del Paine National Park.
He also emphasized the value of linking global climate action with local territorial management.
Another key highlight was the “Where Next?” panel on advancing towards “more sustainable and resilient tourism,” which included organizations such as The Travel Foundation, Preferred Travel Group, Beyond Green, and Cuidadores de Destinos.
In New York, Ojeda was also able to broaden relationships with the academic world and other strategic stakeholders such as Cornell University, Risklayer GmbH, CELTH, Tourism HR Canada, Global Business Travel Association, and George Washington University.
“Our presence at Climate Week NYC not only reaffirms Las Torres Patagonia’s international commitments, but also connects the global agenda with the local realities of Torres del Paine. All of this is consistent with the management of Las Torres Patagonia, under its IUCN Category V Management Plan and supported by the Las Torres Patagonia Conservancy NGO,” commented Ojeda at the close of the event.
