Las Torres Patagonia Showcases its Sustainable Initiatives at ENPROTUR

Eleven students from the University of Magallanes participated as ambassadors of reforestation, sharing their experiences at the reserve and their work for this year.

Torres del Paine, August 21, 2023: Aware of the challenges and new opportunities arising in the hotel and tourism market in the region, Las Torres Patagonia, in partnership with the NGO AMA Torres del Paine, was once again present at the most significant gathering of tourism suppliers in the Magallanes Region: ENPROTUR (Tourism Suppliers Meeting).

The aim of this event is to provide suppliers with opportunities for dialogue with decision-makers and representatives from regional tourism companies, enabling them to establish business partnerships and customer loyalty.

John Ojeda, the Sustainability Manager at Las Torres Patagonia, will represent our reserve at the event with a booth, where he will share the initiatives that have been developed in collaboration with AMA Torres del Paine.

“We are thrilled to communicate to our peers about the activities we have undertaken with AMA Torres del Paine. By sharing our experiences and listening to others’, we hope to establish new partnerships and collectively learn how to better care for the beautiful landscapes of Patagonia,” commented Ojeda.

During the event, the AMA Torres del Paine booth was visited by over one-hundred individuals who were able to take home a basil seed kit, allowing them to experience the work carried out in the regenerative garden.

Furthermore, eleven students from the University of Magallanes were present as Reforestation Ambassadors, having the opportunity to share their experiences with the attendees. Their efforts are aligned with their plan to plant one-hundred lenga trees in an area affected by the 2005 fires later this year.

Nelson Bahamonde, the Leader in Research and Development at AMA Torres del Paine, mentioned that during the event, they also had the chance to inform attendees about various sustainability initiatives at the reserve. These include the aforementioned regenerative garden, sustainable cocktail services, and the collaborative work with students from the region.

“We want to thank all the students who took part in this activity to showcase the work we’ve done with AMA Torres del Paine. On this occasion, we utilized various communication tools, such as a QR code linked to our audiovisual materials and a series of environmentally friendly souvenirs,” commented Bahamonde.

Lastly, the AMA Torres del Paine team participated in various presentations that were attended by more than seventy representatives from the hospitality and tourism industry in the región.
