This important recognition in the category “Sustainable Development Project” was delivered by doingGlobal, together with Inter-American Development Bank  (BID) and the College of Paris. These awards recognize leaders and teams that have become professional and have carried out initiatives that have made a positive impact on more inclusive and sustainable development.

Regarding this, Ojeda highlighted: “I am excited to receive the special mention in the ‘Sustainable Development Project’ category, highlighting all the work that is carried out by the AMA Torres del Paine and Las Torres Reserve.”

Volunteers at the Base of the Towers Trail Restoration Project

In the case of John Alejandro Ojeda, he became a member of the PM4R Community (Project Management for Results), after completing a PM4R Masters in Project Management with a focus on Innovation, Technology and Sustainability in Tourism. In fact, he applied the PM4R methodology in the Restoration of Base of the Towers trail project, which was managed by AMA Torres del Paine.

The reconstruction project of Base of the Towers Trail involved its redesign and works to mitigate more erosion of the trail as much as possible.

Planning Towers Trail Restoration Project

In the 2021-2022 season, sustainable trails were built with ten experts and volunteers, reaching 451 meters of trail, 30 meters of rock step construction and 1.5 km. of trail for horses. Work will continue in the 2022-2023 season.

Without a doubt, this recognition, which is aligned with the highest standards of educational quality, is a great support to the reconstruction of one of the most emblematic trails of the Torres del Paine National Park.
