Torres del Paine gains international exposure on hit Australian TV program

The episode showcased the park’s landscapes and tourism experiences, with Hotel Las Torres as the base for the journey, reaching more than 1.7 million viewers in Australia and over 600,000 in New Zealand.

Torres del Paine, August 3, 2026 — Torres del Paine was one of the main settings in a new episode of Travel Guides, the most popular travel program on Australian television. With Hotel Las Torres as the base for their stay in Patagonia, thirteen travelers explored the park’s various attractions in a broadcast that reached more than 1.7 million viewers in Australia and over 600,000 in New Zealand, and surpassed two million streaming views. The episode also featured visits to Santiago and Valparaíso.

The broadcast serves as an international showcase for Torres del Paine and for the tourism offering of the Magallanes Region, presenting the destination to audiences drawn to nature and adventure experiences. This exposure helps strengthen its presence in markets across different continents and positions Chilean Patagonia among the world’s leading long-haul destinations.

Torres del Paine takes center stage

Hotel Las Torres served as the group’s base during their stay in Torres del Paine. Located in the heart of the national park, it offers an all-inclusive program with more than 20 guided excursions. During filming, the travelers rode horseback through the Ascencio Canyon, sailed before the Grey Glacier, and spent a day alongside the baqueanos, the local horsemen who have been part of the Las Torres Patagonia story for over a century.

The journey through Chile also included Santiago and Valparaíso, where cuisine and wine were part of the experience. The visit was coordinated by Las Torres Patagonia, ProChile, and Film Commission Chile, with the support of Sernatur and the private sector.

An opportunity for tourism in Magallanes

Australia and New Zealand represent high-potential markets for long-haul nature destinations such as Torres del Paine. The removal of the visa requirement for Australian citizens, together with direct connections from LATAM and Qantas to Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland, makes Chile more accessible and opens new opportunities to draw travelers to Patagonia. These conditions coincide with a favorable moment for the sector: Chile welcomed more than six million international tourists in 2025, its best result since 2017.

“This exposure allows us to showcase Torres del Paine and the Magallanes Region to an international audience interested in nature and adventure destinations. At Las Torres Patagonia, we work continuously to strengthen the destination’s presence in new markets and attract more travelers to Chilean Patagonia,” says Juan López, commercial manager of Las Torres Patagonia.

The Travel Guides broadcast broadens Torres del Paine’s international visibility and reinforces its standing as one of the region’s leading tourism destinations.
