Santiago, November 26, 2024 – After a five-year hiatus, the Federation of Chilean Tourism Enterprises (Fedetur) decided to resume its awards recognizing outstanding tourism initiatives across the country. In this context, Las Torres Patagonia, a family-owned business located in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park, won the top award in the Tourism Marketing Strategy of the Year category at the 2024 Fedetur Awards.
The tourism initiative led by the Kusanovic family in the Magallanes Region earned first place in this category, based on the campaigns and initiatives they launched during the past season.
The campaign that laid the foundation for this recognition was “10 Volunteers for 10 Days,” which invited 10 North American citizens to participate in the reconstruction of the Base Torres trail. The initiative gave them a firsthand look at the process of creating a sustainable trail in a national park.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the fragility of the destination, while showcasing the commitment to sustainable projects and conservation efforts. This particular initiative also highlighted a private effort within a National Park.
Implemented from February 11 to March 15 of this year, the campaign attracted over 100 participants from the United States and Canada. Ten winners had the opportunity to visit Patagonia, explore the main viewpoints and tourist spots in the park, and work on the new Base Torres trail, contributing to the creation of 480 meters of new trail.
“We are very pleased with the recognition from Fedetur for the various marketing initiatives we’ve developed at Las Torres Patagonia during the last period. This award inspires us to keep working even harder to promote national tourism,” said Juan López, commercial manager of Las Torres Patagonia. He added, “This is the result of several multidisciplinary teams passionate about putting our country’s name on the global map.”
